Plague Pal

I drew up this little friend while watching a bad Netflix horror movie yesterday. The style is just a bit different from what I’ve been doing lately. My boyfriend, wonderful and supportive as always, showed me how to make a watermark as well.

Today, I’ll be packing and practicing my pitch for DFWCon. Best of luck to anyone else attending!

I’m in love!

I got much better pictures for very little extra work. In fact, I don’t think setting this thing up is any more work at all than trying to find a clear, well lit space in a busy kitchen. I had a little extra time today and photographed everything I could get my hands on.

As for the book, it’s been wonderful getting back into writing. I finished the first chapter Sunday and made decent progress on the second last night. I’ve decided to aim for two chapters a week. Deadlines work wonders for me, so I’m feeling optimistic.

Valentines wrap-up

The goblins have been successfully distributed.

Somewhere between two and three dozen cakes have been decorated.

(A light box has been purchased to improve the quality of future cake photos.)

Time to work on the book now. I’ve got a number of writing projects going, and am always picking at them here and there, but I tend to keep just one on the front burner. This story’s been kicking around since 2014. One of those with a few false starts under its belt. I think it’s the right time to give it another try, and I love what little I’ve written so far. My goal is to have a good manuscript ready by the end of June.

Better get back to it.

More like carecrow

I’m on the last scene of one of the novellas I started writing in November. Can’t wait to tie up the first draft. The writing lacks personality at this early stage, but I know where I want to go with it, and that’s usually a sure sign of someday getting there.

Meanwhile, it’s nice interspersing the longer projects with short ones, like my watercolor monsters. Can’t recommend it enough!

New designs for sale

Spent the snow storm reworking a couple of designs for my shop. I’ve also been listening to My Favorite Murder, watching Star Trek: Discovery, and enjoying the audiobook of Kafka’s The Metamorphosis (as read by Benedict Cumberbatch). Couldn’t ask for a better weekend.

Maybe I should think about drawing Gregor for the shop. A giant bug is a kind of monster, isn’t it?

This Jackalope loves listening to The Antlers, running very fast, and you
These ghosts love holding hands, communicating with the living, and communicating with each other

Second goal of 2019: Achieved

My first goal was to set up a shop on Society6. And I have!

My second goal was to make a new website. Lo and behold, here we are.

My third goal? Well, this has all been a bit misleading, because I didn’t actually put any of them in a specific to-do order. However, I can assure you that the list includes plenty of books and not a few cakes. I’ll keep you posted on my progress here at my new little home on the internet.
